When speaking at the SHRM Annual Conference & Expo 2021, Jennifer Currence, SHRM-SCP, CEO of WithIN Leadership, highlighted employee engagement and retention as the number one priority in her session “Top 5 Priorities for an HR Department of One.”
Currence attributed people quitting to a variety of factors, including:
- Senior leaders not putting as much energy into people as they do the business
- Employers not treating employees like adults
- Managers failing to coach
- Organizations not being transparent
- Companies not giving specific and personalized recognition
