2021 has been full of exciting developments for the association’s LATAM region. From the addition of new firms to successful member-to-member collaborations, we are excited about what the future holds for Latin America.

2021 LATAM Regional Conference

On August 23–24, 2021, Allinial Global hosted its very first virtual LATAM Regional Conference. With 51 members from 23 member firms and 8 guests from potential member firms participating, the event was a great success with amazing learning.

This year the main topic was technology and how our firms can adapt to the new realities that technology, crypto currency, and COVID have brought to our profession. In addition to sessions on IT audit, cybersecurity, and tax, the conference featured a workshop by growth and profitability strategist Michelle Golden River. Michelle shared insights on changing how we communicate with clients in order to shift their perception of our value and initiate important conversations about pricing and business advisory services.

The conference also highlighted what high-growth firms are doing differently to gain traction in today’s changing marketplace. Lee Frederiksen of Hinge Marketing and Sergio Hernandez Weber analyzed recent research studies on the accounting and financial services industry to pinpoint the marketing strategies that are helping the fastest-growing firms stay ahead of the curve.

And of course, everyone appreciated the opportunity to network and enjoy some social time together with a virtual happy hour. I would like to give a special shout out to the Steering Committee and all of the members who helped with the planning of the LATAM conference—their assistance certainly made the conference a success.

2020-2021 New Member Update for LATAM

Over the past year, we’ve added new members in Brazil, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Mexico. In Brazil, we welcomed a specialty firm in forensic accounting, along with two audit firms in new regions that give us expanded coverage in the territory of Brazil. We also added a great audit firm, BestPoint, in the beautiful region of Cuenca in Ecuador.

With Grupo CFE, a top firm in Guatemala, we added a new country and firm that offers all the services of CPA and tax firm, including transfer pricing and legal service, as well as a large family business practice. And last but not least, SKATT Global gave us the tax capabilities we needed to help the clients of our members in Mexico. SKATT is among the top 5 tax firms in Mexico, offering international tax, litigation, transfer pricing, expatriate, M&A, and trade and customs. As our membership continues to grow, we are excited about new opportunities for our members to win new engagements together.

Success Stories

Speaking of collaboration, I want to highlight a recent success story in the LATAM region—a big win of US member firm EisnerAmper, thanks to a collaboration with our members in Honduras, where they won a large litigation support engagement for the Honduran government. EisnerAmper is currently collaborating with other LATAM firms in search of new projects and clients, primarily with Ecuadoran firm BIT&T Auditores y Consultores. I’m so pleased to see the confidence and trust that other regions have in our LATAM firms growing along with our membership, capabilities, and opportunities to work together.

The LATAM region has a lot to look forward to this year. Like our colleagues in the APAC region, we are planning a Doing Business in LATAM roadshow, so stay tuned for details. And if you’d like to explore the Allinial Global membership and how it can benefit your firm, please contact me.
